Heidelberg, Gauteng — an easy town to come back to

Heidelberg sits on the southern edge of Gauteng where the city gives way to highveld farmland. It is a working town with a long history, an old centre worth a walk, farm stalls on the outskirts and the Suikerbosrand ridge on the horizon.

For guests it is quietly practical: close enough to Johannesburg, Vereeniging and the East Rand for a day's work, close enough to the N3 for a night's rest, and far enough out to actually hear the birds in the morning.
